How to Speed Up Videos on an iPhone in 2021

Despite all the updates to iOS 14 in recent months, there's still no way to change the speed of your videos using the Photos app, even in 2021.

In this article, I'm going to show you a way to speed up videos on your iPhone using Kapwing's Change Video Speed Tool.

To speed up the videos you've recorded on your iPhone, you'll need to know just 3 steps:

Upload your video to Kapwing
Speed up your video
Publish & download!

Step 1: Upload Your Video to Kapwing

Start by heading to Kapwing.com in your browser and click Start Editing to enter the Kapwing Studio. To upload a video that you recorded on your phone, just tap the Click to Upload button and find the video that you want to speed up in your camera roll. Once you select your video, it could take a while to upload to the Studio, depending on the file size.

If you want to speed up a video that you found online, copy the link to the video and paste it in the Studio's URL field. Most web locations allow you tap twice on the URL and select Copy. In apps like YouTube, you can find the Share button and choose "Copy Link."

Step 2: Speed Up Your Video

First, find the speed controls: Select the video layer and tap Edit Layer from below the video. To speed up the video, tap the + button under Speed. You can change the speed of your video to 1.15x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x, 2x, and time-lapse style 4x. This will multiply the original speed by a positive factor, making the output faster.

Scroll down and tap Done when you're finished.

Using Kapwing's Studio, you can make slow motion videos or hyperspeed videos by adjusting the speed of the video. Creators can also make other changes to their sped up video:

• Add other videos
• Add & edit text
• Add pictures, GIFs, overlays, & audio
• Add shapes
• Add text animations
• Crop, resize, rotate, & filter

Step 3: Publish & Download

Once your video has been sped up and edited to perfection, you're ready to publish it! Just tap the red Export button in the upper right-hand corner of the Studio window. Kapwing will automatically start processing your video.

Once your video is finished processing, press Download to save the video from the final page or share the URL with your friends. If you're not signed into a Kapwing account, sign in or sign up using your Google or Facebook account – once you've signed into a Kapwing account, the watermark in the lower right corner will be removed from your final image.
